"At the close of 2007, after a tumultuous year that included the sale of a major business unit and emergence from a Chapter 11 reorganization, our Maryland-based portfolio company finance team was understaffed and overwhelmed. Fortunately, we were introduced to Cordia by our audit firm, and together, we charted a course to prepare the company's books and records for the year-end review. Cordia interacted directly with the auditors, working independently and providing the technical resources necessary to properly prepare our company's financial statements and related footnotes. Because of high turnover in the finance staff, there was a lack of in-house historical knowledge about many of the very complex transactions that had occurred during the past year. The Cordia team proactively reviewed and digested dozens of agreements and other documentation, gaining a thorough understanding of the company's history. Working long hours and under time pressure, they prepared the required accounting entries and all of the supporting documentation underlying the year-end financial statements.
